I assume you are talking about the real thing and not the mock.....

I think what happens is they send out the exam to you on a Friday and you then have two weeks in which to send the answers back to the ICB.

What will be required is what is asked for on the exam paper - many different printouts from your software. Did you not get a set of answers with your mock exam - that will show you what is required to be sent back (in the real exam). Every time it mentions the word report then that means something needs printing out. I've just got my mock a couple of hours ago and intend doing it tomorrow.

Just got my exam on the Saturday. Everything seems good but I chose fusion software, of which I am unfamiliar with. It is not too hard to work out and the support has been quite good but there is an issue I am currently having. I feel the software in this case has been a little too rigid. I can see a work around but in my opinion it will look stupid.

Apologies for talking riddles but I dont want to give anything away.

Anyway I will have to wait until tomorrow to find out how to solve it.

Good luck.

Peter.

Hi Peter

How long do you get to complete the exam?

Hi Martin,

You should complete and post your printouts by the deadline date. You can find that date at the bottom of the exam paper front cover.

Good luck !

Hi Martin
I got the full two weeks and the paper has to be with ICB by the Monday so you can post it on the Friday and it should get there for Monday.

Just finished the paper now. I have had various issues with the software I chose. My advice to you is run through at least once with a past paper. I kind of wish I did that myself. That way you should iron out all the gremlins you might find if you are not use to the software. I use sage at clients and have used Fusion for the exam. I can see why one costs £800+ and one costs<£200 a year. but hay I will roll with the punches. There are a few areas I felt could be more polished, but hey who am I to complain it is the free trial version.

Just a quick thought re returning the exam, I spent the extra money and  sent it back Special Next Day Delivery, just in case, with Royal Mail being the way it is I didn't want it to go 'missing' in the post and get a fail, although  I believe the Institute will accept the postmarked date if it is late!

Good luck!Smile

Hi Martin,

Just realised you are about to take the level II computer exam, I did mine few days ago, so here it goes:

you can book your exam paper online, and ICB will send out by post on Friday, you then might receive the exam paper on Saturday (if the post runs as normal), then you will be given two whole week to complete the tasks and need to return your finished reports back to ICB by the date required on your exam paper, strongly recommend you post is as recorded mail or special delivery - so you have a proof that you have returned within the asked time.

In terms of time allowance, please do not worry, I finished my report in one day and Natalie here did it in 3 days and she has 4 children! so you will be OK. But I would say choose a account software carefully, and make sure it does print out all the possible reports you may be asked, as there are so many software out there, I used Sage 50 and think it is great.

I would also recommend you to keep a copy of your reports sent, just in case it got lost or something, and once ICB receive your reports, they will email you and tell you, and you can check your "member area" on the ICB website to keep in track, they will update it regularly so you know what they are doing for you - they are very efficient and professional. I am still waiting for my result at the moment...

All personal experience, hope this helps

Good Luck!

Hi there,

Yes you will have to effectively erase the data from the company that you have been practising with in order to start with a clean slate.  You need to go into File-Maintenance-Rebuild.  Here you can untick all the boxes and start again with a fresh company so you can start entering the details from the exam paper.

I suggest you take a backup of your current data before doing this so that you have something to restore if it all goes pearshaped!
