Help! MYOB user having to change.....

I have happily used the PC version of MYOB for several years at one of my service sector clients. Mamut took over MYOB's customers a couple of years ago, following their exit from the UK market. I have been informed that the software will become 'read-only' from January 2012.

Is there anyone out there who has switched from MYOB to another package and, if so, which one?

Comments I have read have put me off the obvious solution of switching to Mamut's own software, so I'm looking at other options.

SageLine 50 and Quickbooks seem to be the most popular alternatives.

Apart from having all the usual standard functions and reports, for me, the most important issues are:-

- Ease of conversion from MYOB

- The ability to accommodate at least two users ( one accessing remotely via an external server)

- The ability to produce customised freeform sales invoices within the system.

- The ability to edit/delete incorrect transactions, without the original and correcting postings appearing on reports.

- Clear nominal ledger reports in date order.

- Clear and easy to use bank reconciliations.

- A package price that is not excessive, after allowing for training and add-ons.

Other nice thtings to have , though not essential, are :-

- A multi-company facility ( without having to pay an extra licence fee)

- VAT reports that don't have to be adjusted for new items from earlier periods.

What are your experiences and are there any other viable options ?

Hi Martin

I would seriously look at Quickbooks it ticks pretty much every box you have listed.

Kind regards
Stuart
