Hi everyone,

At what point in your qualifications/membership with the ICB can you call yourself a "Certified" Bookkeeper?

I'm guessing that for the next 6 or 7 weeks it's when you've passed either level III manual or computerised. After 30th September it will be when you've passed both.

Hi Pauline,

You will need to pass both of the Level 3 Manual and Computerised exams before you can use the title "Certified Bookkeeper".

Yes James, very pernickety....lol  I did actually assume that you had to upgrade to Member before you could call yourself Certified, not just pass the exams  :-)

James @ ICB said:

“Hi Guys,

Just to be pinickerty it is actually the membership level of Full Member (MICB) that gets you that title, not just the passing of examinations (as you can become MICB without doing those examinations if you get exemptions).”

I'm sitting my level III manual in a fortnight. If I pass and paid for the upgrade (as well as the Payroll Diploma) would I be able to use MICB PM Dip after my name immediately so I can get business cards printed (after approval). I'm really just wondering about the period from the end of August to end of September. Hopefully I will have passed the computerised level III before 30th September. After the 30th the CB Dip will be redundant anyway will it not?

Sorry to hijack a thread but I think it was more or less answered anyway.

It will more likely only be a few days than a few weeks. I sit my manual exam on the 23rd August so I'm not going to complicate things by ordering the computerised exam until I have that one passed (hopefully on the 23rd). So even if I get the computerised ordered and sent out on the Friday it will likely be Monday 29th August before I receive the exam. If I then get the exam done quickly and returned by the Friday it will be Monday 5th September before the ICB receive it. Say allowing for another 3 weeks to get it marked and we're at the 26th September. So it will only be 4 days.

Maybe I'd be better spending my time studying gearing and other ratios than calculating how many days I could have CB Dip after my name. Smile
