Morally/Ethically Acceptable?

Ive been wondering this for a while. I am currently employed by an accountacy firm who specialize in the licenced trade. They obviously dont have every pub/club etc in the region, some do it themselves, other accountants etc. My question is, once qualified to do bookkeeping under the ICB is it morally/ethically or perhaps legally wrong to approach potential clients in this sector? It is in my contract not to steal clients we currently have or have had since ive worked there, but what about the ones we dont have? any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Some very valid points, thanks for the response. I certainly hadnt considered (but i will now):

"You would have to be especially carefull if you were working with a competitor of a previous client."
