I tried a variety of software products but found some of the reports to be lacking in detail. A lot of the software have trial periods so you could use them to do the exam without paying for the full version, just make sure you check that you can get all the necessary reports as some may have limitations.
I eventually went with Sage (as much as I hate the software). I used it for level 2 computerised and the payroll diploma.
