I am new to ICB and have bought Kaplan beginner/intermidiate book for  level 1 bookkeeping.

I am a science graduate and  not very familliar with accounts. I have some experience by which I know  bit of basics.

Can I use that one book for both level1 and level 2 ?  Are they sufficient for passing both levels or atleast level 1. Kindly suggest.

Hi VK. I'm studying with Kaplan for Manual and Computerised levels 1 and 2 using their 'Associate package'.

Kaplan supplied two books -
Kaplans ICB Practical Bookkeeping: Beginner / Intermediate (ISBN: 978-1847107145) which sounds like the book you have already and Practical Bookkeeping Kit: ICB Bookkeeping levels I & II (ISBN: 978-1847109194). I'd suggest getting this one too as it contains 90 questions and answers to accompany the Practical Bookkeeping text book.

Another book is the ICB recommended text, Mastering Bookkeeping by Peter Marshall. I did not find the text that helpful - although it might be more valuable later on. However, for me, the strength of this book is that it contains lots of past papers which I think will be very helpful when preparing for exams.

Finally, there is the classic Book-Keeping and Accounts by Frank Wood and Sheila Robinson.

Hi Folks

First time on the ICB Forum!

Just brought the Kaplan Book "Practical Book-keeping Beginner/immediate". Looks pretty good. Loads of practice questions and answers.

Starting to panic over taking exam soon, just about finished coursework for Level 1 and don't know whether to do mock exam on line, will i have enough time etc.

Can anyone suggest any other practice material!

I would highly recommend or even go so far as to say you should definitely complete the online mock, it is the best practice to prepare you for the real thing. The online exam is very different to the paper versions.
