Looking again at the choices - there was one for manual ledger pages. Could these not be a simple pdf file left in the Members Section of the ICB website rather than paying Vistaprint and then their hefty postage charges.

They're not exactly cheap at Vistaprint £4.74 for only 10 flyers then you've postage to add on top.

For the MLR leaflets I was suggesting the ICB gets a bulk load printed (say £400 for 10,000 A5 leaflets printed both sides & delivered).
Selling them in packs of 50 to members for say £5 including handling, packaging and postage. That allows £600 to admister the distribution of 200 packs.

This is going to be really embarassing If I've got figures wrong. Smile

My turn for a silly question now.  Where are you seeing all these options peasie?  All I see are business cards, letterheads and flyers.  None are particularly cheap, but then vistaprint never are.

Much better to build a relationship with a local printer I think, after all thats where many other small businesses will go.  And some might be after a bookkeeper, thats how I got a few clients.

Kris,

If you go down to near the bottom of that news page there is a link to a Facebook page. It was mentioned on another thread that it would be better to create a thread on here for people that are not on Facebook. So I guess this thread is really just for suggestions for other stationery.

Hi James
Not exactly stationary but - cotton bags! SmileI have been thinking of some time about contacting the ICB about cotton bags. My clients always comment on my cotton bags that have funny equine pics on them and I thought that rather than using plastic bags for collecting and dropping off records these eco friendly and 100% biodegradeable bags would be much better. I have in the past provided clients with Tesco reusable bags when their own plastic ones have fell apart.
There are loads of companies out there that sell these bags and will add on your logo. I was thinking about having the ICB logo and my business details on them - a great advertisement thats easy on the environment. I appreciate that they will cost a little but my idea was to give one to each client - if they choose to use it for doing a wee shop - all the better for me.
Maybe include it in ICB merchandise or offer a discount to ICB members. Sorry vista - but your ones cost a small fortune.

Regards
Angie

Hi James
The price I have paid has varied from £2 to £5 but these have all been preprinted with say Asda's tickled pink logo. I have left the larger Tesco ones with clients and when I go to see them the next time they have always gave them back to me full of their files and any additional paperwork. I think subconsciously some clients just look at it as another means of filing paperwork ready for me to collect.
I also use the bags to take files I need when working on site as not everything fits into my laptop case.  I would prefer to use a bag advertising my business and the ICB rather than say Asda, Tesco etc.

Regards
Angie

The bags I get from Morrisons are 39p each. Strong enough (and the perfect size) to hold a Brother HL-5240L laser printer. I wonder how much it would cost to get those printed with my name. Unfortunately I won't be able to bulk buy in millions like Morrisons.

I think the personalised cotton bags is a great idea.  I would say looking for a cheaper bag with an ICB design would be the best bet.  I might have to order some then!!!!

Hi All,

I've just had a quick look at the VistaPrint / ICB stationary and it looks very professional THANK YOU!

Is there anyway of bringing down the cost a bit on the letterheads and cotton bags? They do seem a bit steep....

Thank you to the ICB for making life a bit easier, I did struggle with designing my own on their software. The tricky bit is moving things around and now we have nice templates to choose from. :-) Yay...

I'm going to wait until I've finished studying to buy some more, nearly done. Payroll next week, then level 3 and tax.

Then hopefully some more clients!

Jenny

“I got my wedding stationary through vistaprint and they have sneaky little ways. If you want a bargain, sign up for their emails. You will get LOADs: at least one a day. But the offers are pretty good. Then fiddle around with your ICB business cards (or create a new design like I have) and save the design it for later -don't bother with proofs or anything unless you want to. Then wait for a good deal to come along (like 250 premium cards for £3.50 for instance) and then go in via the link in the email and order them there and then. Don't panic if you miss a deal - another one will be along shortly. I don't know for sure it'll work with the ICB ones as it's a special shop-front but worth a try. I found them to be good value for what they are and if you're willing to wait, very cheap on shipping too. Not the same as a local printer, true, but horses for courses and all that. I'll save them for the second time round once I've earned some money... :-)”

I did the same thing. Got constant emails and offers for my first set of business cards. Eventually I got a deal through the email and went to the Vistaprint site. Went through the checkout process and was offered a further discount. I ended up with 1500 business cards, a free metal card holder and, including the postage and packaging, the whole thing cost less than £20. I got them at my front door withing days.

Just read the post regarding cotton bags, sounds like a great idea, with ICB logo, which can be used for collecting clients records/ files etc.  Will be interested in buying some, when I set up my practice, hopefully won't be too long.

Cotton bags sound fab, I want some!!

I use Vistaprint for my website and did use them for my business cards but I waited for an offer. I used Able Labels for compliment slips and produced the letterheads myself.

Vistaprint are pretty good if you wait for the offers and I do like the ICB's design. Shame my own business logo seriously clashes with the colours of the ICB logo and the back of the flyer!! Should have thought about that before I committed to the colours shouldn't I  Undecided

Able Labels - not heard that name in a long while. You used to see their adverts in newspapers for address labels. Not really much of a market for that now what with sheets of labels and you can print smaller quantities than the minimum of 1000. I've still got hundreds of labels from when I first moved in here 22 years ago.

I admit to having a problem with my apostrophe's (or is it apostrophes?), some say that I don't know where to put a comma or semi colon or vice versa.

Then again I get questioned over practice/practise - I believe that you have a "practice" but should adopt "best practise".

The problem is that we rely so much on spell check (or should it be spelling cheque?) and also forget to change the word options from US to English - where they have a driver's license. (I think we have a licence but we are licensed).

The other problem of course is that when we do rely on spell check it accepts valid words - my mind often tells me to type "their" instead of "there" - I know which is which (or should that be what is what or even what is which?) but still think that I have properly proofed and then spot the error (of my ways) only when I have sent the letter or fax and then get embarrassed.

Of course if we all start using text speak - evry fing will be GR8 lol no prob cul8rSealed

BTW James - loose or lose?

I hadn't heard the name in ages either but they now do a lot more than labels! I've got a discount code for 10% off all purchases if anyone is interested.

Hi everyone,

I know this isn't really a way to remember it easily...but usually (and there are always exceptions in English!) the NOUN is a C and the VERB is an S.....as in:-

Nouns

Practice
Licence
Advice

Verbs

Practise
License
Advise

Remembering stationEry by Envelope is good  :-)
