I am just about to finish off my Level III Computerised Bokkeeping exam. I'll NEED to get it finished. Hopefully I'll pass it. I did this using Sage Instant Accounts. Has anyone done the Sage exams - level 1, 2 & 3 ? Would this be a wise thing for me to do next or is it repeating what I've already done. How do these levels compare to the ICB exams?

I'd be fairly confident of doing the bookkeeping from scratch using Sage Instant - but I'm not so sure about taking over the bookkeeping if it was Sage 50. How different is Sage 50 to sage Instant? I know it is a lot of questions but if you could answer any of them I'd appreciate it.

Hello Peasie,

I have done the Sage Line 50 accounts and Sage Payroll exams.

They are good!

Nothing like the ICB exams, as they don’t really test bookkeeping knowledge, they test your understanding of the sage program.

You do the exam online at home, it uses some odd software that locks your PC down and you then select multiple choice questions and complete online simulations.

I am glad I have done mine, but not too sure how relevant they are in the real word, Sage say it shows competence in using their software.

Can’t comment on Sage Instant as I have only used Line 50 and Line 100

Best of luck!

Keith

Hello Peasie

Sage 50 Accounts and Instant are almost identical, bar a few tweaks here and there. If you can work Instant, you'll have no trouble with 50.

The differences start (apparently) at Sage 200...or so i've been told. A completely different animal!

Good luck!

That's really what I'm after then.

The "locks your PC down" worries me a bit. What does this mean?

Is it a timed exam and if so did you complete it in plenty of time. I just know my computer will freeze or I'll lose the connection halfway through.

Yeah its odd, you have to install some software that takes over your screen so you cant access anything, once you end the exam the software closes and your pc is back to normal.
From memory you get 4 sections and its 15 questions in each, you get about an hour?  I done them in 30 mins, so plenty time left at the end.
