DOCUMENT REPOSITORY

Hi All

Just a little thought as part of the members area do we think it would be a good idea for the ICB to have a Repository for Templates and contracts and other assorted documents that we could download.

I think it would have to be extremely clear that these docs are not endorsed by the ICB and we use them at our own risk perhaps a tick box to confirm we understand this when downloading it.

A lot of people here ask for templates it would good to have a place those of us willing to share can put them for other members to use.

Your thoughts.

Kind regards
Stuart

I think this is a great idea, and I for one would be happy to let anyone have access to any forms or documents I have.

Hi

I think that is a brilliant  idea too. I am just starting out in Practice and wish there was more templates I could adapt and  use for my own purposes.

Excellent idea Stuart. Especially as many people do ask on the forums for various letters and templates.

Would also be prudent to include a tick box stating that they are used at members own risk and they are not endorsed by the ICB.

Like Carrie I would also adapt them for my own use.

Hi Ami

that sound brilliant.

However It would also be a good to have a place we can store Excel templates etc.

I have noted there are a lot of members that just need the basics of a template that they can then adapt for processing / recording purposes.

kind regards
Stuart

Ami @ ICBsaid:

The focus to begin with will be on HR and Health and Safety documentation, contracts of employment etc

Please let us know what templates you need so we can ensure we make this new service as useful as possible.”

Great news and a great idea Stuart.

Can we please have a downloadable version of the Institutes code of conduct. It would be useful to be able to make this available to clients.

Thanks.

I know what you're talking about Stuart as I've seen similar things on Yahoo forums (not bookkeeping but files in general like zip files, pdf files excel files etc) but I'm not sure how it would work with this website. One possible way would be for someone to request a form and then another member sending it by email to ICB for their approval and then the ICB host it on  the website in the Members Section.

Maybe a "request" thread - expense claim forms for employees, mileage calculation spreadsheets, letters of engagement templates. Any more?

I know there is a letter of engagement already available but there could be better versions.

Hi Peasie

I was hoping to avoid people sending requests by simply having the form uploaded already.

I dont think the ICB need to control the content of these templates as we can tick a check box when downloading to state the template is used at our own risk.

We could develop a rating system for the templates so further down the line if we have say 3 mileage templates uploaded we could rate them and the best one in the opinion of the users can de determined.

Perhaps James can jump in and let us know how difficult it would be to develop this.

Kind regards
Stuart

Somebody has to control it and I'd have thought that the ICB approving it and hosting it would be the easiest way. What is there to stop someone from posting offensive material or advertising material. On the forum there are moderators to control things.

I like the idea of a rating system but I think that might be difficult to implement. Actually, on thinking about it, it might not be too difficult. On forums like "Pie and Bovril" (a football forum) there are green dots if you like a post and red dots it you dislike a post. I don't know how that would translate to a repository.

Hi Peasie

That is a really good point re controlling things. To be honest I had not considered that aspect

Perhaps we could have a system where uploading is restricted i.e. all doc's for uploading need to be sent to James he can then vet them for offensive materials / Advertising and then upload them.

This uploading task could potentially be shared out amongst a few volunteers to save one person being lumbered.

I would imagine to start with there will a tidal wave of documents after that it should slow down.

Cheers
Stuart

I suppose restricting direct posting to "Members in Practice" only and anyone else would need to be posted for approval might help slightly.

(I managed to spell "Practice"  wrong again to start with - how is that even possible as I was looking at
ICB Main Site -> Forum Home -> Members in Practice -> DOCUMENT REPOSITORY
before I wrote it).

Hi Peasie

That is a great idea especially if the upload is tagged to show who uploaded it.

With regards to the spelling Undecided

I think glasses houses and stones springs to mind in that I have just spotted a glaring one in my earlier post lol.

So no comment from me.

Best regards
Stuart
