if a person has limited access of Sage at work i.e. Customer ledger, but has Sage at home and restores the company back-up on their machine, does it mean they can access all i.e sales & purchases or does the limited access remain?

Hello Sue, I am lead to believe that the username governs what people can access in Sage, so if they logged into Sage with the same username they will only be able to see what they could in the office.
BUT - The username would have to have access to the backup/restore options.  Also you would most probably need a multiuser license from Sage.

Keith

You are completely correct the access rights are tied to username so no matter where you restore the company file to you will only ever be able to access the same parts of the programme that the username have been granted acess to.

Kind regards

Technically if the manager and admin passwords have not been changed from the default you could access the full information on the backup by using these log-in's.

I will not detail the default passwords on here though.
