I have completed  level 2 & upgraded my membership to Associate.
Once I fill out the  practice licence form & get the certificate for PII submitted to ICB , can I then start approaching
potential clients??
Or is there something further that I need to do ??
Thanks

Well Done.  Souinds like thats you ready.  Have you got a name in mind, and a good marketing strategy.  The biggest mistake I made was setting up my website, placing a few local ad's then sitting in my nice new office and waiting for the phone to ring..... it didn't.

It can be hard, but its fun.  Good Luck,

Kris - am nearing the same situation as Steve 333 - just waiting on my L2 Comp results (fingers crossed).  What would be the one thing you would recommend doing if websites and ads didn't work?

Am thinking of targetting local businesses with leaflet drops/door knocking, but not sure whether that would work.

If the phrase "Build it and they will come" was ever actually true about something, it wasn't running a bookkeeping business and it wasn't now.

Sure, you need to have a website, but don't rely on it to bring loads of clients (or any clients) in.  You need to get out there and let people know you exist.

Walk round local businesses talking to them about what you do, put up flyers, go to networking, phone businesses, pop along to business gateway (business link in E&W) and attend their new business training.  Even if you don't pick up new skills you will get to talk to loads of new businesses.

Tell everyone what you are doing.  They might not need you, but the might know someone who does.

I recently got my car sign written.  It's really cheap and is a constant ad for your business.  If you have 2 why not leave the signwritten one on a business park for a day?

Hope some of these help.

Thanks Kris - that's really helpful - one thing I can do is talk, so just need to get my practice licence and then can really start talking to people.

Website is on my list but fairly low down at the moment - no excuse really as my husband is a web developer.  Think your site is really good btw - really clear and clean.

Thanks,  It's mid revamp right now.  A few things I'm not quite happy with.
