Hi
Any accountants here I need some advice. I intend going into accounting, I took the AAT skill check and they recommended i start from level 3.  I have passed the ICB level 1&2. i was hoping if ti will be faster to sit the ICB level 3 and proceed to level 4 on the AAT

I contacted AAT they confirmed that it will be at the discretion of my training provider if they believe am competent, since you have to be with a training provider in other to register for the program.

Any ideas and suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks James
I dont mind going ICB to level 4, but how competitive is it compared to the AAT level 3 or 4?
I dont intend setting a practise anytime soon so am kinda concerned about job prospects.

I did ICB Level 3, then AAT level 3 and am just completing AAT Level 4, only 1 module left.

I did this as at the time ICB were not offering a Level 4 (many years ago, although I may have been informed wrong) and as I stated in an earlier post a CA had informed a friend of mine that ICB was not worth the paper it waswritten on.

I think if I was starting all over again I would have just stuck to the ICB and done Level 4.  AAT seems to be more suited to working in an accountant's practice or progressing onto CIMA or CA.  There seems to be very few of us who are working in industry or are just happy staying at MAAT.

I used to run the finance side of a construction company in Glasgow and over the years of recruiting I only came across one person who had the ICB qualification, howver no-one applying who had MAAT.  If you look through job adverts most  who request a qualification do ask for AAT.

However that is only my personal opinion.

Pamdill
you right most employers do ask for AAT and above.  I think i will start from the level 3 AAT after level 4 go on CIMA.
I could enrol on CIMA via the Masters gateway(CMGA) as advised by them , but kinda scared
since i am not yet grounded in accounting so taking my time.
