Sage 200 Help Please!

Hi there.  I have just landed a job based on what I have already achieved with ICB.  I am currently doing Level III manual bookkeeping.  The job is in manufacturing (I start on Monday) and my employer has purchased Sage 200 with the manufacturing module.  Has anyone any experience of Sage 200?  and the manufacturing module?

Initially the job will involve me in creating some kind of stock control system which I believe is incorporated in Sage 200 manufacturing.  From speaking to him my employer started out on his own several years ago, he has made a terrific success of his business and it looks as though it will go from strength to stength in this present climate.  He has a tendency to stockpile materials "just in case" anything should happen and his suppliers let him down!!!!!!

I think from what he says he is worried that his suppliers are delivering orders piecemeal and that he doesn't know what he's had delivered and what is still to come, or what he's paying for!  (I think by the sound of it he's very lucky to have found such a lucrative niche market bearing in mind how he runs the supplies side!).  Any help or advice no matter how small would be most gratefully received.

Hello Poppy,

Providing you are familiar with Sage 50 pro you should be able to adapt to Sage 200 with a bit of patience.

Sage 200 Stock Control allows you to organise and closely manage your product lines in more depth. You can manage different stock locations independently, in terms of replenishment, sales, reporting and stock takes. Custom search categories and wildcard searches will assist you in managing large numbers of product lines. Serial and batch controlled items can be managed, and you can buy and sell in different units of measure. Barcoding is also available in the latest versions.

Pretty much everything available in Sage 50 Pro is available in 200 but with a few extra options and flexibility.

I hope this helps, and good luck in your job!

Dear Poppy,
If the software is Sage 200 Suite v2011. It's developed in partnership with a Sage business partner Pinnacle and you can get advice/training from them. I'm not entirely sure but the email address is something like sage@pinnacle.co.uk
Good luck with your new job, let us know via the forum how you get on.
Tim
