Every business has its quirks lol.

This should be as per any hairdressers except reduced premises costs and increased travel costs.

Kind regards

I would have thought that there was only one answer ------

REDUCED OVERHEADS

Hi Acorn

From a tax point of view, they must make sure they keep, at the very least, a diary with all sales recorded.  Also they need to ensure that they record their business mileage accurately as majority of travel may be personal.  Be as well logging sales with address and mileage.  They would also need to be careful about claiming clothing as this could be questioned, e.g. tabard with logo is fine, trousers, blouses aren't as these could potentialy be worn everyday..

As a point of interest, how should tips (esp coming up to Christmas) be dealt with for this?

Presuming all of these need to be recorded as sales too?

Careful with tips if the business is VAT registered. Tips are VAT-free provided they are genuine gratuities (i.e. the customer genuinely has a choice about paying them) (although there are then irritating issues about Payroll)
