I received my QB Pro 2012 disc over the weekend so am going to bite the bullet and install it today to replace Pro 2010 that I've been using. The installation manual advises that I can keep both installations so can keep using 2010 if I don't like 2012!

Anyone upgraded or used 2012 and got any comments on it? Does it treat VAT any better than 2010???

Hi Clare,

I am testing out 2012 before upgrading my client, but don't know if there's anything majorly different between it and 2010.

There's a calendar option, which I don't think was in 2010.  There's batch customer invoicing where you create an invoice once and then send to a pre-defined list of customers.  There's a Collections Centre where you can quickly identify nearly due and overdue invoices and there's an improved Company Snapshot.  It looks slightly nicer than 2010 as well....sort of cleaner/crisper looking...lol

Don't think the VAT is any different in this version.  Think the major change was between 2008 and 2010.

I just had a strange moment with it though. It came up with "an unexpected error has occurred...please close and re-open QB". Only it wouldn't let me close QB until I'd closed the message and it wouldn't let me close the message!

Haven't used it enough yet to comment further  :-)

Well I've been using QB 2012 for a week and so far had no problems. I haven't yet had to use it for client books but as you say Pauline it all looks just slightly crisper but I haven't noticed any huge changes.

The first test will be when I have to restore client files in 2008 into my 2012 version I guess.

Did you manage to resolve your closing issue?

Hi Clare,

I had to use Task Manager to close QB in the end.  Hasn't happened since, but I'll keep an eye on it.  Took me half an hour to do a backup on my client's pc this morning! I had to have strong words with her about the machine.  She's thinking of getting a new pc just to run QB and Office on.
