Changing payroll software

Hi everyone,

I think I have managed to persuade one of my clients to change her pretty expensive Quickbooks payroll over to using Moneysoft Payroll manager.  My question is, can the change over be done mid payroll year, or would it be better to wait until the start of the new financial year?

Hi Pauline

It can be done mid year but it does mean bringing accross all the year to date amounts.

Personally I would suggest doing the change at the payroll year end starting afresh with the new payroll year as it means less setting up on the new system.

Kind regards
Stuart

Thank you Stuart....I think we have decided to wait until the new financial year...you are right, it will be much easier :-)

I switched to moneysoft after Sage increased the price to silly money, I had no choice! I couldn't bring the year to date figures across as it would have got really messy with my main payroll client paying HMRC every quarter. I can't remember what moneysoft said to me but decided it was easier for me to enter the payment runs again, it was pretty quick and also meant I got to know it a bit better.

Hi Ange,

My client changed her method of paying staff from September this year, so I'd rather not go back and re-enter everything  :-)  She's happy to wait until April, so I'll start then.  I've been using Moneysoft for my other client for 18 months, so am reasonably familiar with it already.  Anything for an easy life!

Hi Stardoe

Just talking to potential client who uses HMRC tools for payroll.  Having had a quick look I think 12pay would be better/easier.  As we are about to enter a new tax year it would be an ideal time to change.

I noticed this thread while searching  the forum and wonder if you still prefer moneysoft and if so, why?  I have no experience of either but used sage instant for my exam.

Thanks for your comments,
