Hi All.

As many of you know, we had a very successful conference with Sage.   Both Ami and I have been having continuous talks from Glasgow and London.

Andrew Gibb from Sage is now trying to compile all the issues with relation to pricing that ICB have had which was raised at the conference.

Sage are now in process of looking into a number of areas in relation to  looking after the ICB including a special email address for the ICB and others ways to work to improve the relations between Sage and our members.

I would like to stress that Andrew needs to do some research which I have also agreed to help him with this.

In order for Sage to have the chance to go through the pricing issues and look into the detail of cases.

Andrew has asked if you could email Ami at memberservices@bookkeepers.org.uk   with the following

 subject title:   Sage Prices.

Andrew would like if you could leave on your email to Ami , which will then be forwarded to Andrew.

1)     details of your name.
2 )    Tel no.
3)     The price you were charged as a practice or quoted.
4)     If you know whether you were speaking to Manchester or Glasgow, and if you can remember which number

         you rang.
5)     Account no if you have one or Serial number.
6)     How many companies you wanted to have as a practice
7)     if you are running accounts and payroll bureau,

        or

        Accounts on their own

        or

        or just the Payroll bureau.

Please bear in mind this is only if you believe you have been unfairly quoted and have concerns the price you have been given is not correct.

In order that Andrew can look into as many of your cases as he can , for the point of this email we are not discussing the Technical line or whether you like Sage or not as a software.  The issues in relation to sage Cover our been covered by myself and Ami as part of our ongoing discussions.

I also appreciate that everyone also has various issues on how Sage software performs but for the purpose of Andrews’ request.   I would appreciate if everyone could forward issues on the pricing just for the moment in relation to Sage.

Andrew has also asked if anyone is ringing to purchase that they use the number 0845 111 11 11 and confirm when they ring it is Manchester they are speaking to.

Ami has agreed with Sage that the forum cannot be used for advertising, as these rules apply to all suppliers

After our discussions today we have agreed to have a meeting in the New Year.  This will most likely take place in early February as Sage, ICB and I are extremely busy in the run up to CT and self assessment deadlines.

Ami will decide the best way to keep us updated and it will most likely be through our Newsletter after our meeting.

Sarah,

I have Sage Line 50 on my laptop and on CD from the company I was Company Secretary for up until the company went into liquidation in December.  I was going to look into seeing about getting the licence transferred into my name.  I had done this before on behalf of a gentleman I worked for who sold one company and set up another.

I was listed on the Ocmpanies House website as Company Secretary etc.  do you know if it is still possible to transfer licences to other names if you can prove legitimate entitlement?

Hi Pamela

To be honest I am not sure regarding this one.  But I really don,t thing Andrew would mind if he has time to look at this for you.

Would you be able to email Ami and the above email with this question and just let her know I said that would be okay for emails to Andrew.

I too was company secretary when company went into liquidation in 2009 - I could not transfer Sage 50 2009 Accounts to my name and had to purchase the full programme.  I was told as the company no longer existed - Sage accounts ceased to exist also.  It cost me over £1,000 to purchase my own copy/

Hi Jymll

You were charged the wrong correct price or you were buying it for a company or client and not for yourself as a practice .

It should not have costed you £1,OOO for one copy you should have been on client manager which is half the price for 25 company licence which is for people in practice .  This was advertised by sage , but there seems to be a lot of members unaware of the client manager. or the 3 levels of the accountants club which involves client manager and payroll bureau.

Would you be kind enough to send  ami a email at the above address provided detailing the details for Andrew .

We understand people have been qouted wrong prices and not been told about client manager . We really need are members to email Ami to pass on to sage otherwise this problem remains unresolved

I had a look at the Sage site last night to have a look at the client manager, I was probably having a thick moment but I was in the section labelled for Accountants and bookkeepers.

The 50 accounts client manager was advertised at a starting price of £700 plus VAT for up to 2000 clients and a load of users and was mainly talking about linking to clients' Sage,  you then would have to buy Payroll.

I could not figure out if you could use that package if you were doing the bookkeeping for a client who did not have software.

I also had a look at Sage Instant accounts production which was for small bookkeeping business with 1 user and up to 100 clients which is only £99 plus VAT but that only seemd to be for perparing Final accounts again with importing clients data.  THis would be no use again for dong the day to day bookkeeping.

There is also no options available in that section for payroll. Payroll options available are all for up to 10 users but 1 company and mainly a mothly rate.

I think I am going to go with Quickbooks Pro advisor club and pay the £345 & VAT per year which then gives me a bundle of software which I can then keep.

Hi Pamdill

There are various levels  of prices .  And the website is terrible for working out prices as I paid less .  Also you do not buy payroll .

I also gave a number that would put you through to Manchester to give the right price and make clear you let them know you have a practice.

Would you be able to email  Ami  at the above email so she can  forward this to Andy Gibb it would be appreciate.

I appreciate you have probably made your decision but we would like Sage to know what ever you mayy be qouted from Manchester , Newcastle  or what you are seeing on the website  .

This is the very thing we are having discussions about.  We need the members to email and help us for the discussions to move forward

Many thanks Sarah
