Taking self assessment exam while abroad

Hi - I'm looking to take my self assessment exam over Christmas period. Only thing is, while normally I'm a UK resident, I'm working in Vietnam till May.

Does the ICB email papers to UK members who just happend to be abroad?

Does the 2 week time limit on submitting the paper remain in place?

Would appreciate some feedback on this.

Don't want to phone ICB UK as my mobile phone bill woulld be very big just to discuss these points!

Thanks

Jo

Hi Jo, I was located in Bangkok for 15 odd years and still have an office there that I visit every 3 months. As fas as I am aware the only location you can sit centre based exams in South East Asia is in KL but check this out with the ICB website as they are expanding rapidly. I took the SA tax return exam last September and it was a paper exam posted out with a deadline date for returning by. You will need the exam paper before you depart the UK and the time limit will have started. DHL courier service takes 4 days Bangkok to UK and if involving weekends add 1 day. In Vietnam DHL have offices in Hanoi and HCM city but if your in a resort you may struggle unless the resort can help you out but check the delivery times well in advance. One other point, you will need access to the internet.
Hope this helps

Hi Timm & thanks alot for the info. I'm in Vietnam right now - about 3 hours from Hanoi, so what you told me is very useful.
