Claiming items against tax

Hi everybody,

I have a new client who is looking to reclaim Spanish Withholding Tax paid on a dividend.  How would one go about this and is it possible to claim the tax back on previous years that she has 'missed'?  Would tax credit still apply in such a case?

She is also hoping to claim certain allowable expenses from previous years.  As I understand it, expenses should only be claimed in the year in which they were incurred, is there a way round this?

Obviously I want to do the best for my client, but don't want to break any rules in doing so!

Merry Christmas!

Phil

Hi Phil,

I'm under the impression that you had 4 years to claim expenses e.g if incurred in the year to 5.4.08 then your last chance to claim the expense is y/e 5.4.12.
