New Client

I've just taken on a new client today.  The very first person who has came across my site, received an instant quote and agreed to it straight away with no interaction at all from me.

I did give her a call once I recieved the email to say she had accepted the quote and it seems she was very impressed with how quickly and easily she could get a price and agree to it.  Meeting her on Friday for the formalities.

Just as I was beginning to think that the instant quote system was only being used by other bookkeepers and a few local accountants.

Hi Kris,

Could you please tell me who your site was built by and approximately how much you paid and/or pay on a monthly basis?

It looks very professional and I need to get a website built for myself.

Thanks.

Hi Meena,

Thanks for your kind comments about my site.  It was actually built by me.  I paid someone to build the first one and hated it.  I started with the thought that I should use other professionals for things to let me concentrate on bookkeeping, you know the way we tell people about bookkeeping.  But I paid a fortune for something I hated and decided to do a new one myself.  It has undergone many changes over the last year or so, and I'm still not really happy with it yet.

As for cost, other than my time and the hosting which costs £7 per month, there are no other real costs.

Good luck with yours.

Thanks Meena, I have just had a look at Kriss's site and am inspired to DIY my own site. I was let down by a web design company this week in that the person I had an appointment with was out of their office at appointment time. They had quoted £700 for a Wordpress webiste so the positive side is I've saved some money.  I don't want a standard "all about us" welcome page and much like the KM bookkeeping site want to aim for more professional approach. Kriss's site is full of useful information and any visitor can get immediate benefit. Any chance of Kriss setting up a side line business for ICB members designing websites!!  Really a very well thought out site, my congratulations.

Hi Timm,

I would say that £700 for a  wordpress website is a touch on the expensive side.  I don't really like the design aspect of websites, but I can do it.  I much prefer the development part, building the scripts to run the back end and devising the structure.  Its very like bookkeeping in its logical approaches.

I did offer a free website to bookkeepers on another forum.  It was one of the previous layouts I devised, but for a sideline I'm not so sure.

I have to agree with the others that your website is excellent.  A great extra to offer your clients if you decide to go that way. Laughing
