Hello everyone.
Im still relitivly new to this and I have come accross something I am not too sure about.

I have a client who has left it untill the last minuet to do this year tax return for period April 10-Aril 11.
He was made bankrupt in June 2010.
Am I to only assume that I only need to worrie about his earnings from June 2010 to April 2011 as anything before June 2010 is wiped out by the bankruptsy order?

Any help with regard to this matter would be most welcome.

Many Thanks

Debts that arise after the date of the bankruptcy order are outside the bankruptcy.

You will need to include the earnings for the entire tax year or basis period to work out the tax liability for the year.  Some of this tax may possibly have been due for payment in January and July 2011 and the rest is due at the end of this month.

If you're in any doubt, I suggest you consult the Trustee in Bamkruptcy.

Many thanks for that. I had to turn the client down in the end (Too close to the deadline) and I am still not completely sure about how I am to do this as HMRC is going on on about 2 UTRs (One for the period before and one after). Your advice is still helpfull
however if you are aware of anywhere I can get more information in this matter I would be extreamly greatfull.

I dont like turning people away and if the client came to me earlier I may have had a fighting chance at being able to deal with it.

Many Thanks
