Hi,Sorry if this is a silly question but just wondered if anyone had any idea how many hours in a month it would take to do the bookkeeping for a retail pharmacy, including a monthly VAT return. It maybe similar (or not!) to any retail shopThanks for any help/advice.
Hi ShazansI do the bookkeeping for a pharmacy, and like any shop, it depends on how big/busy it is. How many scripts and supplier invoices (or statements from the likes of Mawdsleys, Unicem, Colorama etc) are there per month?Steve
Hi Steve,There are around 7000 items per month, and three main suppliers AAH, Sigma & Trident. There is also one till for cash takings. Thanks for your help
Hi Shazans
My client does about double that and I go there, on average, a couple of days a week, although its more often in the first week of a month when we need to get the vat done and filed asap.
Steve
Thanks Steve that useful to know, do you think doing the books for a pharmacy is more complicated than other clients. Are there alot of intricacies involved in pharmacy or is it much the same as anyother client. Where are you based by the way?
Bookkeeping for a pharmacy is much the same as any other retail client but the way the income from the PPD works is a little complicated at the beginning but you soon get used to it. Have you seen a PPA statement yet? I`m based in Doncaster, S Yorks
Actually this is the first month of trading so no not yet, but I will take a look at one when it comes!
Do you mean the pharmacy`s first month of trading or your first month as a bookkeeper?
Both!! Got my practice licence this month and the pharmacy opened its doors this month too. I am not in the position to do the books yet, so was just debating whether to give the books to a bookkeeper or accountant.
