On the Vistaprint link, it advertise 250 free cards for ICB members but when I go on the site they don't appear to be free at all!  Anyone managed to get any for free?   Toying with the idea of printing my own, subject to ICB approval of course.

Thanks for any help,

Hi Linx,

I first got my cards from Vistaprint a few years back. The free ones were not very good at all and were more like samples. I did pay a bit more to get better ones but now believe that they do not represent my business to the degree I would like. I'm not talking about just the design but also the card thickness. Your business cards make an important impression so its essential to get good quality ones that set you apart from others.

I have compared my cards with those of my clients who had professionally printed ones on thicker card. The difference is clear to see. So I'm going to a printer to get more upmarket cards. I would rather have fewer cards that were of a higher standard.

Just my view of course.

regards

Richard.

Hi Linx P, Vistaprint always do 250 free cards in a range of their own designs. You may find one of these you like to get you started. You can add your name and contact details etc, but you can't customise. You will pay postage and if you want any extras such as reverse side printing, glossy paper, this will be extra.

There are more options with their "pay for" templates, which you can upload your own logo/photo etc to, or upload your own design. There are regular offers, so worth waiting for these.

I used the ICB designs through Vistaprint as they are approved, and had the benefit of allowing me to upload my logo onto a template which already had the ICB logo on it. It was a bit more expensive than some of the offers available on their "pay for" business cards, but if I had chosen one of those I would only have been able to use one logo/picture (in most cases).

You could also try a local printer for a quote, or for something more upmarket, look at Moo cards.

I would agree with Richard in that the cards from vistaprint are not the best quality.

I always advise going to a local printer.  They wont have the headline prices of VistaPrint, but can sometimes be just as cheap for a better quality card.  Remember too, the bonus here is that a local printer will deal with all types of businesses including new starts who may be looking for a bookkeeper.

Thanks, Kris and all of you who responded.  I will definitely be checking out my local printers and as Kris mentioned, networking at the same time - genius!
