Installing Sage 50 Client Manager ....Q's

I purchased the Sage Accountant's Club plus membership last week, and chose to have the Sage 50 Client Manager as part of the package.

It arrived the next working day, but I left it until this weekend to install. I have my box of software ( 1 box with Client Manager, 1 with an extra Sage 50 2012, 1 with Payroll 50). I started the installation of Client Manager, but when the screen for the serial number and activaion code came up, I couldn't find it anywhere, I have hunted through all the documentation, the manual, the boxes etc, but nothing to be see. No instructions on where this should be at all.

I have tried to call Sage, but service is only 9 to 5 Mon to Fri (I actually thought it included weekend cover....) so it is impossible for me to call them without taking a day's holiday from my day job, not something I can do in the next few weeks.

Can anyone who has gone through this tell me where the codes should be? (there is nothing I can see in the payroll or Sage 50 boxes either...).

Also, will I need to install the Sage 50 2012 too, or can I give it to a client?

Final grumble is that they sent me an invoice yesterday even though I was asked to pay by card when I ordered, but have never received any receipt. I do hope this is all a mistake. It cost £840, way more than I wanted to spend, but I had to get it for a client.

Hi Jude

Even though you pay by card . Sage will send you a vat invoice for your records. They do not send a receipt . The fact they send you the box means that you paid .

I not sure why you thought the cover included weekends , but if you feel you were mislead , can I ask you email Ami at the ICB as we are in current talks with sage.

It is a five minute phonecall at the most, to ring sage to register your software and get the activation key.  If you cannot find it in the box and you not need to be at your computer .  The reason for this is to prevent fraud and ohter accountants using it without paying for it . If you just take them down and have them for when you get home. Which hopefully then you do not need to take a day off.

Hi Jude, was that £840 inc VAT? How many companies was that for? Currently reviewing software options & torn between SAGE & VT Accounts Suite, Payroll Manager 100 & Andica for SA all for less than £400 inc VAT & multi-company.

Hi Jo, I notice you are a student, just wandering why you are looking at purchasing software for £400, quite a big lay out if you have not started your practice yet.

Hi Ian,

Yes I am a student but just waiting on my Level 3 computerised results before I apply for full membership & my practice license. In the meantime I am doing my Payroll diploma & will then do my Self Assessment. I won't purchase any software until I have my first client which could take quite some time based on other member's experience however I want to beuniformed enough when the time comes to make the purchase rather than having the delay of starting my research then.

Rgds,

Sarah is right.

I had to call sage the other day regarding activation key and serial number for a sage instant package that had been purchased by my customer.  I wasn't by my computer, didn't have the serial number, just gave them the post code of my customer and the business name and address and they gave me the activation and serial number over the phone.

Very straightforward and quick.

Not strictly true. They sent me out my stuff without paying anything. I was paying by direct debit and they didn't appear to want any money off me. It took them some time before they sent me a direct debit form.

The serial number and activation code were on my invoice.

Hi

You still get an invoice , no matter what way you pay.

As a member of the Sage User group .  The box would not be sent out to you unless Sage had completed  a credit check on you to pay by D/D which an indivdual or company would agree to , paid by card, or agreed to pay invoice in the 30 days.

They would not send the parcel out without an agreement.  Each individual or company would know what they agreed to.

I have never know sage to send the goods without an agreed method of payment usually over the phone.

Thanks Sarah, that's what I expected, I will follow up by phone tomorrow anyway. The lack of weekend cover doesn't really bother me to be honest, I doubt I will need it much. It just means I have to find a meeting room at work to make a private call which can be difficult. Hopefully I will be all set up by tomorrow evening.

Yes £840 includes VAT, I am not yet registered for VAT. I only have a couple of clients so not worth it yet. It the Accountants club plus package with sage 50 2012, Sage 50 payroll and Sage 50 Client manager for 5 companies. If I should need more they said I could pay £25 for an extra 5. If I fill all 5 companies this year I will be ecstatic, so I've just gone for the basic entry level for now.

It seems a lot, but I really needed it for a new client who is already on Sage 50 2011. I think it will pay off in the end and help me gain business.

Hi.  Wondered if anyone could help with a software question? I received sage software last year and started to work through level II course computerised bookkeeping. Then I had a period of time off on maternity leave. I wondered what was the best way to delete all the sage data but leave it installed on my computer so that I can start my course again?

Many Thanks

Hello Tracyg,

go to maintenance and then rebuild, that should do the trick.
