This is the inaugural meeting of the Somerset Branch to be held at The Globe Public House on the outskirts of Bath on 24 April 2012 at 19:30. The meeting will be chaired by Ken Bell, Head of Regions accompanied by Kim Aiken, South West Regional Chair and Mike Johnson, local organiser of the event. The purpose of the meeting will be to gauge interest, appoint a chair and secretary and to discuss the frequency and nature of future events. The branch will welcome suggestions for speakers for future meetings, alternative venues if desired and the general details of timing, frequency and format. We are looking forward to meeting students, members and practice licence holders with the objective of maintaining contact at regular organised meetings for the professional benefit of all. The Globe (Postcode BA2 9BB) is a large public house with a perfect side room for the meeting and offers reasonably priced food if required after the meeting. We hope to see you all there. Book on-line on the events page of the Shop. Mj

I would have loved to have come to the 1st Somerset Branch meeting however Bath is a bit far to travel from taunton.  I have 2 young kids and it would take about 1.5hrs to get there so not very convienient!  If there were further meetings then could we suggest that we have a meeting a bit more central Somerset.

Thanks

Hi. This is my first post to the forum. I am a student member preparing to take my Level 2 exam within the next few weeks. I would love to attend the meeting and become a fully involved member of the Somerset group, happy to take on some kind of role BUT.....I am without a car and rely on public transport to get myself around. I live in Wells and there is no bus service to Bath after 5.45pm would you believe! It's a long shot I know but if there is another member who is coming to Bath via Wells then I am more than happy to foot the petrol costs. I would love to see this group take off and want to help in any way I can.

Hi Gill,

Your long shot has paid off! I have booked to attend this meeting and I go through Wells to get to Bath, so I can give you a lift. I will contact you nearer the time.

If anyone else in the Bridgwater/Highbridge/Wells area attending the meeting in Bath needs a lift I have 2 seats left.

Hello all, I am the regional chairman for the South West and thought I should introduce myself!

I am so glad to see that bookings are being made to attend the inaugural Somerset meeting, here's hoping for a good turn out.  I will be on hand to talk to anyone that's at meeting that wishes to play an active role within this group and indeed anybody that wishes to help set up meetings in other areas of Somerset. I am seeing a lot of interest for a meeting in Taunton so if anyone wishes to put to put themselves forward to be the lead in setting a Taunton group up please let me know.

See you all soon.
