Starting out - SW advice on VT Transaction & Kashflow

Hello All,

I am about to set up on my own as a bookkeeper for sole traders / partnerships.

My first client currently uses Kashflow, which she uses to raise invoices. She likes the fact that all is backed up automatically. She doesn't like the fact that she has to pay a monthly fee.

I am in the process of learning about the myriad of SW options for me and have read lots of threads on here. My current fav is VT Transaction I think.

Can anyone tell me if my client would be able to create invoices using VT under my licence?
Or can she still use Kashflow - and can I somehow transfer that data into VT? I have a feeling this wouldn't work.
Or maybe the best move would  be for her to buy a VT license (cheaper in the long run, rather than £20 per mth ongoing) and use that for invoices. Anyone had any experience of this?

She wants qtrly reports and monthly inputting of data so think I'd need VT Final accounts as well.

I do apologise if these are basic questions - you know how it is when you're setting up! Any advice, gratefully received.

Thanks in advance!

Also forgot to ask - does anyone run VT Transaction on a MAC via Parrallels?

Hello Louise,

if you are a student you are not qualified to set up on your own as a bookkeeper and would need to be an associate member to qualify for an ICB practice licence and you should wait until all these factors are in place before taking on any clients.
