Thank you to everyone who attended the inaugural meeting of the Avon Branch of the South West Region. 26 members booked and due to various reasons 17 actually attended. Ken Bell - Head of Regions and Kim Aiken - SW Regional Chair very kindly came along to help set the branch off in the right direction. I am sure that everyone who attended is grateful to them for helping us and for motivating and energising everybody. There was a good mix of membership and experience and some great characters. Thanks go to Julie Walsh and Lindsay Shaw who volunteered to be Deputy Chair and Secretary. Thanks also to Graham Lucas who agreed to give a talk on the CIS Scheme at the next meeting. The venue seemed to be thoroughly approved of in terms of its location, size and atmosphere, and because it is free to use. The renaming of the branch from Somerset to Avon was approved, allowing a more central branch location such as Taunton to use the Somerset name. The date of the next meeting will be announced shortly and there will be a minimal £4 charge when booking on-line to cover the cost of endless coffee and tea, some nibbles and a gift for the speaker. Please come along to the next meeting. Keep your eyes on the events page and do encourage other members to come along.  All in all it was a great start to the Avon Branch. All for now, more later!

I'm fairly new to the ICB and this was my first official event.  Although nervous at first, I soon began to enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere and will definitely attend future meetings.  It's a great way to meet fellow students/bookkeepers.

My thanks to all.
