Community Interest Company

Dear All,

I have a client who wishes to set up a Community Interest Company, this is a relatively new type of company structure within the UK and one I had not heard of until now.

A Community Interest Company is a "limited company created for the use of people who want to conduct a business or other activity for community benefit and not purely for private advantage"  (source: http://www.bis.gov.uk/cicregulator).

As I understand, it carries out activities for the benefit of a community but also makes a profit.

My question is, what type of company is it for MLR purposes as I can't seem to classify it under any of the categories available?

Any help would be appreciated!

Sorry for being so late to reply to this.

A CIC should be treated as a limited company.
