Leeds Meeting - still tbc....

Hi everyone - many apologies for not sorting a meeting out over the last few weeks, school holidays have been a lesson in logisitics!

I am aiming for a meeting on 11th October, but am waiting for confirmation about room availability.

I would like to find someone who can talk knowledgeably about RTI and payroll generally - does anyone know of an expert that can deal with niggly queries, P11D issues and knows RTI inside out?

Many thanks

Alex

Can't help with a speaker but count me in on the meeting!  Will watch for the proper invite though!

Hi All,

I am very new to the Forum and I would like some help and advice please. I am trying to find local bookkeepers who can do self-assessment tax returns for my clients. I’m currently in the middle of completing my level 3 in self-assessment but I need to subcontract this out for the time being. Can someone please direct me to the right area. Thank you.

George,  I'm up in the Yorkshire Dales north of Skipton.  E-mail me on bookkeeping@beckcottage.com with some details if you wish - I could always come out for a drive to meet you somewhere!

Kind regards

Hi there

A meeting is now taking shape - for 4th October, at Round Foundry again, this time with a nice VAT lady called Rhona Graham - a contact of Russells. She is not, as far as I know, from the revenue, but is a VAT expert!

I am just waiting on her confirming the date and what info she needs from me before I get it put on the events page... Please get your thinking caps on about niggling VAT issues!

We are alos looking at 22nd November for a talk on RTI, so stick that in your diaries too for now.

I will confirm!

Thanks

Alex

Hi All
Seem to have lost my previous reply in cyberspace so apologies if you have read this waffly reply somewhere else today!
I have just booked to come to the Leeds meeting and I look forward to meeting some of you there. As yet I haven't applied for my practice licence as I still seem to have too many questions/doubts and I'm struggling to know what to do next! On a positive note I found out today that I passed the Self Assessment Tax exam so even though I'm frustrated that I didn't get 100% due to the ambiguity of the question (which I understand has been a hot topic ) I'm still glad for a pass and another service that I can offer.
My question is this... Is the regional meeting an appropriate venue for me to ask for people's advice regarding all those issues which I still have questions on: Software/websites/what clients expect/where to start etc? At this stage of my bookkeeping career I am not realistically going to be able to bring much to the meeting and I don't want to annoy people and take up too much time asking silly questions. Would a more suitable idea be to ask if any bookkeepers in business local to me would be willing to meet up very informally over a coffee to offer any advice or is this not appropriate? Any suggestions would be great please. I do hope that in the future I will be able to "give back" to the forum, I have to say that it is a brilliant idea and very much appreciated even though it might take us new members a while to actually write anything!
Really looking forward to meeting new friends on the 4th.

Hi Karen and welcome to everything!
The regional meetings are the ideal place for you to ask questions like this. We generally have an informal networking bit where you can ask questions and talk to the other members outside of the speakers part of the event. Everyone there has been in your position at some point and we are all very willing to help and support each other.

When you get there, come and find me and I will introduce you to a couple of the members first off.

Hope to see you there!
