Kent Meetings

As there seems to be no topic subjects re this matter i thought it about time i finally threw my hat into the ring.

I am not even sure who to contact or how to go about organising these things.

As Kent is a fairly large area, getting approx 100 or more members to one central spot on a given time/date is going to need the powers of superman and his friends to achieve the logistics.

My suggestion is that there are 4 meetings (one each week) using the postcodes around the county i.e. CT-Canterbury, ME-Maidstone and then TN which will need to be split in two.

This then will give ample chance for ICB members to meet up within their relative locality.
Also the speakers can be passed on to each meet meaning so that everybody gets the same content.

Just my tuppence worth and yes i am prepared to help see it through but don't expect me to be a speaker after my last business breakfast meeting (total disaster!)

Regards

Hi There, I'm new to Bookkeeping, just doing level 1, but would love to go to any meetings in CT area. It would be good to meet any other Bookkeepers in this area (especially Dover).

Regards

Hi Roger et al We had Kent branch meetings in early 2012 and before that, but these seem to have lapsed. Branch meetings are organised by members for members (and students) and I would be happy to support anyone who feels they can chair/lead regular branch meetings with the support of the regional structures already in place . The aim is to provide a professional and social networking group in a local area, at present determined by county boundaries. Across the Uk we now have about 35 active branches which meet every 4 to 8 weeks with attendances in the range of 5 to 45. Meetings are not intended to attract large numbers and do not always require external speakers. Please contact me or Mathini at Head Office for more information, if you are interested in developing a Kent branch. Ken Bell UK Head of Regions. k.bell@talk21.com

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the chat and the ideas.

The plan, then, is to form a new branch in this corner of London.

So it's down to who would like to join it.  Anyone interested should email me - chris@MODERNbookkeeping.co.uk - and we'll get it started.  We'll decide the exact location once we know where the attendees are travelling in from so we can make it reasonably central and compact.  My location, for starters, is Erith/Dartford/Bexley.

Anyone?

Hi

I live in Deal and would like to attend meetings say once a month.

It would be very beneficial for my business to meet others in the same field.

Please let me know if anything is organised.

Many thanks

Hi Roger

I am in maidstone and definitely feel that I would like the support of other bookkeepers the last one I went to was may last year in Rainham which seems to have stopped so if you need any help i would be happy to help with starting a maidstone venue? Email me on info@tallybeans.co.uk

A facebook group would be good too for the kent area, is anyone up for that? I can set that up not a problem just want to see if any interest first.

thanks

Hi All, I'm the East Sussex Branch chair and we already run monthly meetings Nr Uckfield which is the TN22 region.  I know many of our regular attendees come from far and wide including Kent.

Are you also aware that there is a new group starting in Tonbridge on 5th June which would be ideal for the Sevenoaks/Maidstone members ?

Let me know if you need any help or guidance - more than happy to give you the benefit of my experience!

Hi,
I would like to come along but I must admit, I'm a little nervous as I never attended one before. What can I expect?

You can expect a friendly group of members and students who want to develop a supportive branch that provides opportunities for improvement through professional development.

Sorry I cannot make Tues 5 June as a prior engagment.  This group will be much easier for me to get to than the London Branch as I am based in Orpington.

Look forward to being able to attend other meetings

Hi all,   I have now passed my bookeeping levels  manual 1,2 & level 2 computerised. It would be great if there were any meetings in S.E Kent as I would love to meet other local bookkeepers as I really dont know where to go from here . I am learning to do  self assesment returns but am really stuggling with it. If anyone could offer any work experiance or advice I would really appreciate it. I am in Dover.

Many thanks

Debbie
