I am wondering about doing the payroll diploma but the accounting sotware I have at present does not cover things like starters, leavers, codes, P11's, P35's and SSP etc - just the debit and credit accounting procedures. Is this enough for the diploma?

Hi Peter

You will need software that is specific to Payroll. HMRC have a huge list of compliant software but not all are capable of generating the required reports for the ICB exam.

Thank you.

I've been looking qround and it seems the free version of 12pay would be best at least for starting when I'm just doing the exam.

Is 12pay compatible with the diploma?

Hi Peter
Cant say we have any experience with 12pay so its a bit of an unknown. Beware of some free trials as they are unlikely to allow you to use all of the functions, mainly doing a complete pay run which you will be expected to complete for an exam.

The ICB might have some information as they tend to try most of the packages out, or maybe someone else on the forum has some experience with it.

Sorry I couldnt help more

Hope it is helpful.

Good morning Peter,

Moneysoft Payroll Manager has all the functionality to pass the exam - on it's free trial!
Even I managed a distinction using it.

Thank you all

So it seems to be down to

12pay - pity about the holiday function
Sage - pity about the price
Moneysoft - might be the best option

Thank you
