Hi everyone,

This is my "virgin" post so here goes....I have been doing distance learning with Kaplan and have just completed my Level II Computerised Bookkeeping exam, so fingers crossed I hope to become AICB soon. I am thinking that I should be studying Payroll before I fully launch my Bookkeeping business and wondered if anyone could recommend a good Payroll learning provider as Kaplan dont currently offer this?

Big thanks,

Tony Jackson

Hi Tony

Both Payroll and Self assessment Tax Returns are good services to offer alongside the main bookkeeping however I would not wait till you get them before setting up.  They can be done while you are also out there networking etc to get the work in.

Regards

I agree Ideal Schools are who I did all my ICB exams through and their support was invaluable.

Well I'm studying with Open Study College and the materials they've sent me are dreadful. If I had more time I'd look into making a proper complaint. I don't know how they've managed to be accredited based on what I've seen. Many glaring errors and sections copied verbatim but out of context from HMRC help guides. As it is I've resorted to studying directly from the HMRC website, help guides etc. It's slow going but at least everything there is accurate and searchable.

Hi, I studied Payroll with "UK Open College" and they were fantastic.  Materials were thorough and easy to follow.  My tutor (Nick for Payroll and Stephanie for manual bookkeeping) was fantastic, really helpful and always got back to me really quickly regarding any questions I had or assignments submitted.

I have done all of my ICB study with them and have passed everything first time.  Would not hesitate to recommend them.

Good luck
