Hi all,

I  have just passed my level 2 status with ICB and now i'm looking to move onto level 3.

What are my options?

Can I self study through text books? or do I need to go through a training provider...

Many thanks in advance,

Hi,

Well done on Level 2 pass.

It depends on how comfortable you feel with bookkeeping.  I'm self studying as I have a background in accounts but still a huge learning curve nevertheless. Level 3 is naturally a big jump up from Level 2 but the books are so well presented with working examples and activities as you well know.  Saying that, hopefully moving onto Level 4 soon so will definitely be going thorugh a training provider!

Good luck :-)

Hi Pudfrey

Congratulations on passing Level II.

I presume you are doing the new syllabus.  I have just completed level III (BA4 to BA7) as self study using the Kaplan books available in the ICB shop.  I have a lot of previous experience of bookkeeping and found self study worked very well for me.

it is really down to personal preference as to which works best for you.  If you feel that you may need the help of a tutor then a Distance Learning Course may be better but self study is possible.

I would recommend buying the two course books (manual and computerised) and the revision book.  The text books have plenty of worked examples but the revision book is excellent for giving lots of practise. I would also recommend purchasing the online mocks for each exam as these give a very good idea of what to expect from the exam.

Good luck with your studies

Jan

Thank you for your replies Claire & Jan.

Well i'm currently near the end of my AAT Level 2 studies and also have done City & Guild level 2 in book-keeping, so I reckon I should be ok to do level 3 with self study. I was more intrigued to see if that was possible.
