Do you use commercial software for Self Assessment tax returns?

And if yes, would you recommend any for a small to medium size practice? Or is HMRC's online form good enough?

I'm no expert but from what I have read - Most people use the HMRC online stuff or use https://www.taxcalc.com/. Kris would be good to advise on this ... he may be along later ...

I use HMRC for sole traders - no point in paying for something when you can use theirs for free.

I do use Andica for partnership returns though as you can't use HMRC for them. Reasonably priced and easy to use as well.

Just dipping into this one quickly as I saw my name.

I use Andica for everything.  It's really reasonably priced and saves me buckets of time.

The one problem I have had with it is the support.  It's not great.  Having said that, the documentation is good so I've only had to call twice in 4 years.

Having used both Andica and Taxcalc I prefer Taxcalc for my partnership and more involved Personal tax returns.  I still use HMRC for the more basic personal ones though.

Thank you, all

Having done some more research, Taxfiler seems like a very reasonable solution - very flexible and good value for the all types unlimited number of returns option.
