Hi

I keep getting offers to upgrade free to Windows 10 but am a bit nervous of doing so for fear something might not work.  Anyone any thoughts of comments on using Windows 10 or on what does not work with it.

Hi Sue,

I've upgraded my laptop and desktop to Windows 10, made sure I had full backups for both before installing.  I haven't had any problems finding files from before the upgrade, everything was still in same place.  The only small issue was my version of Sage had to be re-installed, it's Sage Instant Accounts 2013 and I only use it occasionally, worked fine after re-installing.

Since installing windows 10, my computer has frozen and i've lost the mouse about 4 times, but okay apart from that.

Hi

I too was nervous about upgrading to Windows 10 and didn't like feeling pressurised by Microsoft to do so. But I need not have worried althoughg it did take about 2.5 hours to complete the upgrade.

I didn't do a back up but everything was in place when it was finished.

Upgrading from XP I find Windows 10 is better - its quicker starting up for one thing and I am told takes less memory. It also seems to have a lot of additional features (eg.Apps) which look useful when I can work out how to use them and I beleve it will sync with your Microsoft mobile phone if you have one. Things have been moved around a bit though so, although nothing will be lost, you might have to search for them.

I would recommend take the plunge while it's free. For a short time you should be able to revert back to your previous OS if you are really unhappy. I have heard of people having problems though so would suggest a full back up for greatest peace of mind,
