Hi

I have been asked if I can become the treasurer and or prepare the books for a working men’s club.

They are registered as a charity and as I’m a Member (MICB) I believe I can sign them off.

however they have something in their rules and constitution that the “Qualified Auditor” is qualified under the “Friendly Societies act 1974“

ive never seen or heard about this before, any ideas if I’m qualified under this section to sign off the accounts.

Mom assuming I am, as its a registered charity. I think the audit has to be done by someone Else but It would be good if I could do this too as it will save them over £1800 a year

Any help much appreciated

Regards

Having previous been in a similar position myself previously.  You can keep the records updated and prepare the accounts, but as it states audit they will need to be reviewed by an accountant.

hope this helps.
