Accounts messed up by client

I have receintly gained a new client who has managed to really mess up his accounts in Quickbooks and asked if I could help him to put it right.  He is a sole director operating from a micro limited company and has been doing all the bookkeeping himself.

Trying to locate all the errors and put them right is going to be a nightmare and will likely entail him having to resubmit his company accounts for the year 2018-19 his corporation tax return, and probably resubmitting alterations for his VAT returns to make sure that everything is recorded correctly.

Due to the amount of work involved in first trying to locate the errors and then trying to correct them so they are recorded correctly it seems it would be less time consuming to restart from scratch and resubmit any legal obligations that need to be corrected. This way he has a clean book of accounts. Would this be an option, can anyone see why he should not do this.

Thanks

Jane
