Mock Exam Questions Diploma in Payroll Management Level 111 Sage 50 Payroll

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the Forum, I've been studying with an online school and have taken the Mock Exams.

I'm having difficulty with the Mocks, and can only email my tutor, who has not answered as yet my email queries so I am wondering if anyone can be kind enough to help me out? (This is for actual exam I'm not cheating, I've finished the Mock)

One question requires the SSP history to be entered manually as there is not enough previous history.

I know that you have to enter manually in ABSENCE 8 week SSP Gross, ENTER 8 WEEKS GROSS SALARY,   however, when trying to print the PRE-UPDATE REPORTS, a box comes up saying that the records have been manually adjusted and deselects the employee, no matter what I try it will not print the reports, will not update will not pay employee.

Please understand my frustration I feel like I can't move on and take actual exam in case this comes up again, I've asked my online school they said to ring my tutor, (they do not give her phone number, which I would not expect.)

I also have other queries that have not been covered by my school.

I set up the holidays correctly however (28 days including statutory days, but the answers differ by .5 of a day, e.g for one employee my computer said 22.5 days owed the anwser was 23 another the answer 25, my computer said 24.5)

Pensions queries:-

it said enter QUALIFYING STAKEHOLDER PENSION SCHEME. (I first ticked the qualifying box on Pension set up a tick box with qualifying scheme, however the answer was incorrect till I unticked the qualifying box so I don't understand?)

My school did not explain what the following pension schemes were and would like to know if anyone can tell me?

COMP

COSR

CISR

COMB

GPP

I'm sorry for such a long post.  Please please help I just feel like giving up! I don't have any one else to ask.

Thanks for your patience - I lookforward to your replies!

Hiya,

I can help with what the pension schemes stand for (I used to be an IFA in a previous life) YOu can then google them to find out more although most have now been phased out with the pension reforms.

COMP - Contracted out money purchase

COSR - Contracted out salary related

CISR - Contrcated in salary related

COMB - Contracted out mixed benefits

GPP- group personal pension

I am doing my payroll exam next week and if it helps my school have mentioned nothing of these types of schemes either so dont feel like you are missing out too much. Are you doing really old past papers as the mocks I have done so far havent mentioed them (although I still have the online mock to do tomororw)

Just a thought with the discrepency in the days etc, have you had to reset Sage to take into account previous tax years? Only becuase if not the calender and the qualifying working days may be different eg 4th April maybe a sunday this year but will be a monday next year!! and so it will affect how holidays accrue.

As for the Manual entering of SSP sorry I cant help there. (Just hope I dont have the same type of question next week)

Good luck when you come to take the exam though.

Hi Sarah,

Many thanks for your reply, the mock doesn't mention the different pension schemes, I just wanted to know for my own peace of mind.

I do have another query on the 2014/2015 mock paper one question says employee tax code changed to 745L on a cumulative basis.

Now I thought this means NOT WK/M1 therefore I did not tick the box.  However on checking the answer it was wrong.  I changed and ticked the box and the answer came right!

So are the ICB MOCK EXAMS WRONG! gives me loads of trust in taking real exams NOT!

Many thanks for your help.

Regards
