Hi

Could someone please tell me if Solar or Kashflow (free trials) are suitable for the exam.  Has anyone used them specifically for the exam.  Thanks

Hi Shazans

Havent got any personal experience with either I'm afraid.  Have you got time to try some past papers on them first?

I used Sage as I already had it but I recall from a previous thread that the trial version doesnt let you print off certain things.

If you get really stuck give 'VT Transaction +' a go - looks as if you can do all you need to on it.

If none of this works give the ICB a call, they might be able to recommend ??

Good Luck

Hi Liz thanks for replying.  Funny enough, I did give VT + a go a few days back.  I thought it was great, managed to pick it up straight away and was able to work through the mock paper in a couple of hours.  I really enjoyed using it but, the only problem I found is that you can't print out supplier/customer contact details.  Thats why I thought I would give Kashflow or Solar a go but wanted to check if they could be used.

Hello

There are some conversations on here somewhere that tell of a trial that can be used for the exam, but for the life of me I cannot remember the name of the software.

If you have a trawl through, you should be able to find it - nckbooks is a big advocate of it and apparently Ami from ICB posted a link - if that helps any.

Sorry I can't be any more help than that

I thought it was really good too, but had the same problem.  Has anyone here managed to find a way to print all the customer/supplier details?

Last week I called Quickbooks to see if they had a trial version I could use for valuation, and they gave me a 30day licence.  , so you could try this.

So far I've found it quite easy to get on with.  The only thing that threw me was that you don't specificly have to tell it to do the end of year process, as this happens automaticly for the first month of the new finacial year.

Thanks tedius.  I contacted VT support and they replied that someone else used VT+ for the exam and told the icb that the software doesn't allow for the supplier/customer details to be printed out and they were ok with this.  Is there anyone specific at the icb who we can check this with as it would be great we could use VT+ for the exam.
