What am I allowed to do as AICB CB.Cert

Hello,

Would someone please clarify for me what bookkeeping tasks am I allowed to perform with my degree (AICB CB.Cert). Previously I worked for a company in accounts department and we did everything (with my supervisor) so I am not sure what is the legal limit now that I'm self-employed bookkeeper and when should I pass the work to an accountant.

Just to explain - I am on maternity leave and as my husband will need a bookkeeper soon, we decided that rather than paying someone, I'll do his books and become self-employed so I can stay at home with our son. Rather quick decision :)

I have to admit I am petrified to do something wrong! Would someone please help me here.

Also I would like to use the ICB own bookkeeping software, has anyone got an experience with it?

Hi Olga

There is a section on the main ICB website which spells it out. However, I take it to mean that you can complete accounts to TB, but no further. No Payroll, no Self Assessment, which are both at Level 3. 

It's comparable to what you probably did while in employment.
