Hi

I was just wondering if there were any plans for future local meetings for the North East Area?

Hi Sue,

I am interested in having a meeting in the Northumberland area as the Tyne and Wear one is difficult for me to get to . There doesn't seem to be much interest though at the moment.

Thanks

Hello,

We don't have any active branches in the North East just yet. If you are interested in setting up a branch, I would be happy to have a chat with you.

Kind regards,

Hi Stephen

Where abouts in Northumberland are you based? And, if there were to be local meetings in the future, would be the best area for you to travel too?

I'm based in Washington and cover, Sunderland, Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle and will travel a little way!

I know that there used to be some local branch meetings but they weren't always well attended. Mathini - was there any feedback available as to why the north east branch meetings never took off? I can't understand why people wouldn't want to attend local informative branch meetings?

Kind Regards
Susan

Hi Sue,

Just to add weight to your request/enquiry I would be very interested in attending local meetings. I'm based in Sunderland.

Hi Sue,

i am based in Morpeth. I thought a  Northumberland branch would be a good idea as the TYne and Wear branch held the meetings in Consett which is a bit of a trek for me.

I first posted the idea a while ago but there doesn't seem to be much interest also I may be wrong but I think it is quite a while since the Tyne and Wear branch have held a meeting so I'm not sure if the branch is still going or not.

like you I can't understand why local members wouldn't want to come along to meetings

thanks

Hiya

Thanks for the replies so far!  I have spoken with ICB head office about re launching the North east Region and we're going to look to get a meeting organised for the end of March 2013.  I'd love it to be a big relauch with an interesting speaker from somewhere like perhaps Sage or Xero, who can bring something really informative to the region?

I've been looking at venues and would really appreciate any feedback from local members on what you guys think.

either...

The Holiday Inn at Seaton Burn

or

The Holiday Inn at Washington

Both are just off the A1M and very easy to get too.  I think that the ideal would be to have a Northumberland Branch meeting up at somewehere like Seaton burn and the Tyne & Wear branch meeting at somewhere like Washington.

BUT, bearing in mind the turn out's in the past do you think we could bring the two regions together and meet somewhere easy to get to.

I'd really appreciate a bit of feedback on this - so let me know what you all think!

Thanks

Sue

Hi Sue,

As mentioned previously I am keen on this and would be happy to attend. Washington is easier for me but I can make where ever you decide to hold it.

One request though, try not to have the meeting on the 22nd as that is my 30th!

If previous meeting turnouts were poor then amalgamating the wider regions into one meeting place might be better but you will have to find a location fairly central and easy for everyone to get to. I would suggest trying to get a delegate list together and arrange the meeting depending on where people who would like to attend are located. Again, I'm easy and at least you have already identified a couple of different locations. Have you contacting (or if it's easier, see if ICB can contact) the bookkeepers listed in the ICB directory to try and drum up some interest? I'm fairly new to the forum but have been looking around for a  while and it seems the majority of posts are from a group of about 10 - 15 users (all very knowledgable and helpful mind!), Im just thinking a forum post may not be the best way to advertise the meeting if there are not many active North East users?

Personally speaking I'd love a speaker from Xero as I am seriously considering taking on their software but havn't got around to trialling it yet.

Anyway, sorry for rambling. I dont want to steal your thunder as I am very grateful you have initiated setting this meeting up but if I can help in any way feel free to email me - stephencmmngs@yahoo.co.uk. I'm off to eat some dinner and watch Sunderland beat Hull.

Hi ,

I would be happy to travel to either Seaton burn or Washington.

I am not sure if the Tyne and Wear branch is still going at the moment.

if there was going to be a Northumberland branch and a Tyne and Wear branch perhaps the Northumberland branch could meet at Seaton burn and the TYne and Wear branch meet at Washington . If there was only going to be one North East branch then perhaps somewhere in the middle like Newcastle might be good for people .

thanks

Hi Stephen

I'm pretty certain that there are no meetings in the North East at all just now.

But hopefully that will soon be remedied!  Looking at organising a relaunch meeting the 19th or 26th March so watch out for updates from head office.  (Also on ICB facebook)

Any one else who fancies coming along - let us know :-)

Thanks

Sue
