                            Hi,all

Are this exams bit easier than the old one? Did anyone pass any of this exams? I couldn't find any mock exams on the website. If there are other students studying for this exams, please send me more information about the structure of the exams.

Hi Anna

I am just about to start self studying Level IV ABA8 and ABA9 when my books arrive.

There is a mock for ABA8 in the ICB shop under Mock Assessment Online 2014. I was told recently by ICB that the ABA9 mock will be available shortly.

I'm not sure what to expect from these studies either but expect that it will be much more demanding for me than the new Level II and Level III which I have just completed by self study. This is mainly as I have already been doing bookkeeping up to partnership level for a few businesses that myself and my husband have had over the years but the next level is fairly new to me.  However, I believe that the new exam structure is more manageable as the exams are broken down into smaller portions so we don't have to remember as much information in one go. The old exam structure for Level III Diploma included Partnerships and Not for Profit as part of that but if you have done the new exam structure then you will have already covered these subjects in Level III Certificate.

How are you studying for this course - are you using a Distance Learning Course?

Hi Anna and Jan

I am also studying Level IV. I am distance learning with Training Link. I have completed the Manual Bookkeeping and the Sage element just the Computerised Bookkeeping to go. Once I have completed the last book I will have to source a few mock papers, I will be happy to pass these on to you. There does not seem to be many people on the forum who are studying level IV so it's nice to make contact with you both.

Hi Milliecat

I've been waiting for the Level IV Kaplan books to be published so I can self study.  They arrived with ICB a couple of weeks ago and are on their way.  Currently I'm doing Self Assessment but am getting close to the end of this course and will then move onto the Level IV.

How have you found the course - is it quite demanding?  I wasn't going to do this level as I'm not sure whether I will use it but thought while I am in study mode I may as well continue.

Hi,

I have studied AAT to level 3 and started the ICB at Level IV. I am with  Training Link I have found the books to be very easy to follow and well laid out. I started with the manual bookkeeping this covered Incomplete records, Change of ratio in a partnership, Limited Companies, Ratios and Limited Liability Partnerships. It's all in bite size sections so it's not too bad. The next part was SAGE, everything you would need to do to set up a new business if you come from a SAGE back ground this will be no trouble at all and even if you don't it's very straight forward. I am just starting on the last book which I think will cover all the manual accounts parts but on SAGE. I think if you have experience you will be fine, when I do a mock I will let you know what it is like. Good luck with Self Assesment. Let me know how you find level IV when you start.

Thanks to all for your messages and sorry for the late reply. I bought the mock paper for ABA8.I spoke to Icb and they said the mock paper for ABA9 will be ready this Friday. I am just too worried because I have failed the exam for manual bookkeeping, old syllabus, three times. If any of you is going to set up the exam soon, please let me know, for the results. Hi There

I am looking for ABA8 and ABA9 used books if anyone is interested in selling one, also copy of any mock exam papers you have. as you know ICB does not have more mock exam papoers apart from only one and paid twice and same paper came up. your help will be appriciated and I will look forward to hearing from you
