Hi All

I have just started running a payroll for a Limited Company and have today received a RTINOT notice for one of its employees. What action should I be taking? I have looked on the HMRC website and have not been able to find anything.

Hi

An RTINOT notice is a notification of a tax code change for one or more employees. If you accessed it though your own payroll software, then it may update it for you, (depending what system you use), otherwise, if necessary go into the HMRC site to find out what the notice says and then update manually. If your software allows, ask it to accept HMRC notices and it should prompt you to update.

Hope that helps

Kind regards and very best wishes

Hi Elaine

Thank you for your reply. I have looked at the RTI Notice again and have checked it against the payroll record for the employee in question and have realised that the employees NI number is missing from the payroll database (my error). The notice is stating the employees NI number to use which I have checked against my mnual records and is the right NI number for this employee. I have edited the payroll record accordingly. I agree with you that these notices are also used for changes to tax codes.

 Kind regards

 John
