DBS Checks - Royal Mail ceasing to be Identity Verification provider from 1st March - what do I do?

Hello lovely people!

I've just had an email from Royal Mail, saying that they'll cease to be an Identity Verification provider as of 1st March.  I used them for my government DBS check (for the purposes of practicing bookkeeping).

Will this affect me at all?  Or is the DBS check I did still valid for the normal duration?

Do any of you know who I can approach to find out?  I'm sure other people will be affected, so there must be an answer out there somewhere...

Many thanks :-)

 Hi K

I also received this email.  It says you can create another identity account with another provider at any time so I presume that is what we need to do if we want to continue using an identity verification provider.

It would cause chaos if everyone who verified with Royal Mail suddenly had their DBS checks invalidated so I'm assuming that my DBS check remains valid.

You can email identityverification@royalmail.com if you want to check.  They have an FAQ page at https://www.royalmail.com/personal/identity-verification

HI,

According to my little knowledge, DBS certificate will remain vaild for required duration even Royal mail stop providing the services. As royal mail might have acted just as a middle man.

There are other companies who does provide enhanced DBS services if reuiqred. Even you can do directly from gov website but that will be a basic DBS.

Hope it helps.

Let me know if you required any further information.
