Hello,
I have a client who has an employee due to go on paternity leave soon.
My client is going to pay his employee his normal weekly wage whilst he is off (which is more than SPP).
My question is - can my client still claim back the SPP amount?
And if yes - what entries do I need to make in the payroll software? (I use Payroo)
Thanks

Hi Donna,
I would say, yes your client can still claim back the SPP amount, but you would have to show it separately on the payslip, then show the usual pay as less the SPP amount. One of my clients did it recently with SMP, paid the employee statutory SMP but made up the basic pay to her normal wage.
I don't use Payroo I'm afraid so can't help you with the entries, but would assume that there is an option to show the SPP separately and then just enter the reduced amount of her basic pay in the usual place.
