Full Membership Upgrade Issue

Hi everyone

So finally got my letter today to confirm that I can upgrade to Full Membership plus my certificate (letter dated 11th December!)

 

Been trying to upgrade using the instructions in the letter and not having any joy - still coming up with Student renewal (current student membership ends Nov 2020ish)

 

Anyone having any problems? Have you rectified it?

ICB offices are closed - just tried to ring them!

Hi,

 

I have the exact same issue.

 

I passed the BA7 exam in mid November but did not receive the ICB's letter offering to upgrate to full membership until 27th December, although their letter was dated 11 December. I contacted the ICB by email on 16 December chasing my offer to update membership but did not receive a reply. I tried to chase by telephone on 20 December only to get a recorded message stating no one was in the office. I chased by email on the same day.

 

It is clear the ICB has major administration issues. On receipt of the letter dated 11 December, I emailed ICB to explain I have not been able to upgrade as I was not given the option on their system. I confirmed in the email my wish to upgrade membership.I assume this will be sufficient for their needs.

 

Given the clear issues, I assume they will be reasonable an honour the offer made in their letter. We can not be held responsible for clear issues with thier systems and practices. I understand they are not back until 6 January.

 

Please post again if you have any issues with upgrading your membership.

Hi 

 

Your scenario is identical to mine - ICB are very aware that I am wanting to upgrade due to the scenario of having to do another Qualification to get Full Membership. 

 

I too have emailed them and will be on the phone as soon as they reopen - I have also printscreened the upgrade area to prove that I couldn't upgrade!

 

If ICB do not honour the upgrade, I will be furious as this will impact on my 2020 plans.

I seem to have missed something, is there a deadline for the upgrade via BA 4 to 7 route? I passed my BA7 on 20 December, so result upload happened after ICB broke up. I too need to upgrade asap.

The letter I received stated, I needed to update to full member by 31st December 2019 or further exams would be required, to be eligible for full membership.

 

You position demonstrates the issues with the ICB's stance as, I imagine, it will be impossible for you you to update before the end of today.

 

Have you tried to update via the renew / upgrade membership section of the website?

I can't upgrade via the website as they haven't awarded my Level Three yet, although it will be awarded once they get back as I completed on 20 December. I will be very annoyed if I can't upgrade - I could at a push have taken the exam a tad earlier, although it would have been a stretch due to personal circumstances.

I passed my final ABA9 exam in June but didn't upgrade at that time.  By chance I emailed ICB just before Xmas saying that I would do this at my renewal in Feb 2020.  They replied advising me that due to the change of syllabus if I left it until next year, then I would have pass more exams!  Needless to say, I upgraded immediately.

I keep phoning them every day since I realised my account won't let me upgrade - it still isn't allowing me! (Appreciate back 6th but here's hoping!) 

 

It is really frustrating as if I'd known about this I'd not bothered to wait until the letter and certificate came, I'd have tried to upgrade a couple weeks after the exam and just phoned them up! 

 

Suppose we will know either way on Monday what ICB are going to do and whether we will have to take additional exams for full membership :(

There are alot of us in the same boat judging by comments on the Ideal Schools Forum. Hopefully common sense will prevail on 6th January! Happy New Year to you!

Same issue here although my letter doesn't mention a deadline - am e-mailing ICB to see what's what as I was planning to apply for a Practice Licence in January.

Hello all and Happy 2020! We are really sorry if you were unable to upgrade over the holiday period. I can imagine how frustrating and worrying that might have been.

The issue may have affected anybody trying to upgrade to Member MICB after passing a, now discontinued, BA7 exam from the outgoing syllabus. If this applies to you, you can now upgrade all month until Monday 3rd February. If you don't take your upgrade now, the new syllabus rules will apply and you'll need to pass M7 and M8 (or have completed ABA8 and ABA9 within the last two years) to upgrade to Member MICB.

I can see that the upgrade issue has been exacerbated by delays with processing certificates which is causing unnecessary stress and knock-on delays for those wishing to upgrade. Again I apologise whole-heartedly. We are making changes to these processes as we speak and I'll make sure we're faster this year.
