Dear all,

I have just completed Level 3 and now a full member. I planning to apply for a Practice Licence in the nearest future. I would like to know if I apply for the licence sometime in August would it be valid up to next year August or is it renewable with membership in January ?

What kind of services can I provide with completetion of Level 3 qualification with practice licence ?

Please advise as it will be very helpful.

Thank you very much.

Kind regards.

I got my Licence in July 2016 but my membership is renewed in October every year. Two separate subscriptions.

Level 3 you are licenced to do pretty much anything I think apart from Payroll and Self-Assessment Tax. I took Level 4 and to be honest I didn’t learn much there that I have used. I know some very accomplished bookkeepers running very successful practices who never went beyond Level 3.

Good luck with your new practice but allow plenty of time for your licence application to be approved. I suggest you start the process straight away.

Hi Peter,

Thank you very much for your reply. I became the member today and waiting for my member card as well as certificate. Once I receive, I will apply for the licence.

Have a great weekend.

You are welcome Mahul and Congratulations!

It can be a bit daunting starting out but there are plenty of resources on the ICB website and of course the forum. Whatever problem you might face someone will have been there before you. And if you can get to your local branch meetings you will learn a lot from your fellow attendees.

Regards

Peter R
