Hi all

I am in the final stages of becoming self-employed and i will probbaly agree to pay voluntary Class 2 NIC contributions.

How is this paid compared to PAYE? before i got made redundant I paid Class 1 contributions via deductions from my gross pay but how are Class 2 contributions physically paid when i am self-employed?

Hi Andrew

Class 2 will be added on to your tax return when it's prepared. If you are going to prepare it yourself make sure it has been added as sometimes it can require a tick in the box to generate it.

You then pay them when you make your January/July payment to HMRC.
