Free 2019/20 Payroll Software for Payroll Diploma Exam

I am self studying for the payroll management exam and have just completed the first part of the mock exam.

I now need to do the computerised part of the exam and have been advised to download a free trial for this. My syllabus is the 2019/20 one but all the free trial software is for the 2020/21 tax year.

As I am currently furloughed with no idea what the future holds I don't want to pay out for software (which still might not suit my needs) on top of having to pay the exam fee itself.

Does anyone know of an answer to this. At the moment I feel that the money I've spent on the 2 textbooks and the time studying has been totally wasted as I cannot see anyway I can complete the computer software part of the exam which carries 70% of the total marks.

When I first enquired about studying this course I was told all I needed to do was download a free trial of payroll software, sadly this doesn't seem to be the case.

Hi

I am also in the process of taking my Level III Payroll Diploma Exam, i have downloaded the free trial version of 'Sage Payroll Cloud' (search for it on Google) and on there you can enter the information as if you were doing the 2019/2020 tax year. On some parts of the software it allows you to chose which tax year you want to use and 2019/2020 is an option.

Hope this helps

Thanks

Andrew

Hi Andy,

Thank you for the reply. Are you also doing the 2019/20 syllabus?

I am guessing you are finding Sage Cloud is working for you for this course. I will have a look at downloading this and see how I get on.

I have looked at BrightPay which is very user friendly but unfortunately the trial is for the 2020/21 tax year

Hi Farge

Yeah i am doing the 2019/2020 syllabus.

'Sage Payroll Cloud' works for me because i used it a few years ago at work, i'm guessing that other payroll softwares work well if you know how they work.

Are there any other payroll softwares that you have used before in other jobs/learning?

Thanks

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Sorry for calling you Andy in my last message, I think all this looking at payroll is making my eyes malfunction Smile

I have used Sage 50 Payroll in my jobs, but not the basic Cloud Payroll. I have looked at the Cloud Payroll but am not finding it that easy as I am finding it a bit basic having used Sage 50.

I will keep plodding on

 Hi,

I used a free trial of Bright Pay payroll software to complete my mock and final exam.  It was relatively intuitive to use and you should have the option to select the tax year which you want to use.

Good luck!
