Hello all!

My clients' Limited company is winding up. One partner is now working as a sole trader. The accountant says he doesn't need to regsiter as self-employed, he can use the UTR he already has. Is this correct?

Many thanks and best wishes :)

Quote "A UTR number is your ‘unique taxpayer reference number. HMRC assigns each self-assessment taxpayer a different number in order to track their tax records. All UTR numbers have 10 digits, and sometimes there's a letter 'K' at the end.  Once you get your UTR number it stays with you all your life - in the same way as your National Insurance number.

He can use his own personal UTR but he will still need to register for self assessment
